i'm catching on to his schedule:
wake up and sing loudly the second i take the blanket off his cage
eat,
sleep the entire day
and then sing and scream again at 11pm sharp.

this is a great plan for keeping the neighbors happy: a very loud bird at 11am and 11pm.
and he's going to live for.....25 years.

the second SEEING class happened! in january!
we are in the middle of the class right now, week one of their private mentoring sessions.  i love meeting one-on-one with people and uncovering new connections in their images.  it lights me up and makes me feel alive.

this class is all about two things.
1. learning how to see light
2. learning how to see yourself.

its all about tapping into your own unique vision of the world.
to tap into it though, you have to believe its there.
that's what the class is really shaping itself into: a place to risk, and a place to build confidence in who you are.  if it sounds interesting to you, send me an email to yes@shannonleith.com and i'll put you on the mailing list to announce the next one.

anyway!
this was our first group session at an amazing loft space,

i was so thankful to have margaret jacobsen as the official photographer of the day.  she took these next photos.  margaret! you're the best!

at the end we took this group photo....
i'm the one who organized it....
and then i came home and all of a sudden realized: why did i arrange such a typical and kind of awkward group photo?  apparently all my creativity had been spent. sorry guys.  next group session we're spicing things up.
seeing_011.jpg

anyway :)
i absolutely love this group of people.
here are a few of their blog posts about their experience:

enjoy :)

he's in the army, and they've essentially been doing their relationship long distance for years.  they've been together for 7 total, and they've only been in the same city for a teensy bit of that.  they're blocked by the barrier of skype, both a blessing and a curse. because you can't hug over skype.  you can't kiss over skype.  jen said the thing she misses most is just doing the daily things of life together. like grocery shopping.  she said it, not me. promise.  (my kind of girl.)

this session was refreshing for me.
all about the people, in a real way, in a way that wasn't covered with fluff or pretension or fake. no trying just being.

hope you enjoy :)

life has been thrown off the predictable path this week by a random case of bronchitis.  its nice to have a legitimate reason to cancel everything and sit in bed for 4 days straight.  its also kind of annoying.  and what's even more annoying is feeling constantly lightheaded from the codeine in my cough syrup.  floaty floaty floaty!

i'm starting small on this post, hoping to give you piles of pictures to look at by the end of the week.  there is lots to share.  life is happening lightning fast these days.  living it is enough of a job, let alone blogging it! eeps!

i hope you all are well.
isn't it great to be sick and then realize what it really feels like to be well?

p.s., those bags look like giants!

Hi Shannon - I'm assuming that you are feeling lots better because you're back to your pink house! Sick is NOT fun, but it helps us feel for people who are sick all the time (like Fern). I'm looking forward to your upcoming pictures

talk about elegant and classy and lets talk about katy.
she's down to earth and bright,
lovely as ever and has THE happiest guy: josh.
honestly, together they're beaming. consistently.
so bright.
that's my word for them.

katy also happens to have amazing style while keeping it real.
by that i mean....
doesn't let the style overtake the day.
the day was about people and love,
and i felt it the most during dinner when EVERY table got up and cheered as they came by to say hi! who does that!!

the wedding was in THERE! i flipped my lid when i drove up.

cool shoes don't really impress me or woo me, but these did, because they have glitter and because they are simple and unobtrusive.  go katy. i love you.

katy, you're brilliant.

You know what's cool? When I'm 80 and looking at my wedding photos... I'll also be thinking of you. You've given me something that will last a lifetime and YOU (your creative vision, your impeccable eye for beauty) are woven right into the images that you create. You're creating a legacy that is spread out over every life you encounter.

The photos are incredible. More than I could have asked for or imagined. I knew to expect more than I expected. Thank you for this gift!

the tree by my house apparently had some issues, and i looked out my windows to see lots of men in neon outfits chopping it down.  and i LOVE NEON. i wonder what they thought of me taking a polaroid of them?
