terri, anna, nikola, dasha.
they're the ones who are making this experience come alive.
its not about the food, my packing list anxieties, or the pretty light, or the crazy weather, or the bike rides, or the showers with two shower heads in one stall.

its about the people, and they are beautiful here.
there is something so sweet about moving past a language difference and finding common ground through something more intangible.

i'm teaching a photography class at a summer camp for high schoolers in the czech republic---- its through a program called young life.  we got to meet for our photo class three days in a row....two hours per morning.....and i was delighted to find that a mere 6 hours with a person can do so much.

i am now in the czech republic for a few weeks,
trying to stay warm because it is raining and all i really brought were tank tops.  one sweatshirt. one pair of pants. they are my new best friends. so is the raincoat that i didnt think i'd ever need :) (thanks stacia!) i am here to teach photography at a summer camp------- the kids just got here today and so here, we, go!

traveling abroad has gotten me thinking a lot about how most people expect photographs to explain.  i had release myself the pressure of explaining every part of my trip through images.  i prefer using photos to experience and uncover layers of what i'm seeing in front of me.  so, i will let you experience what i experienced.  enjoy :)

shoot. as your packing consultant, i feel i've failed you. ok, thinking on our feet: layer two tanks for core warmth, add the purple long sleeever, and then your orange sweatshirt and then the coat. did you end up bringing jeans? or just the grey pants? you could probably layer those two (grey under jeans). and what about the striped cardigan?

i will pray for sunshine.

cosmo's  been just hanging out at the table lately---- for instance, right this second he is sitting on his new favorite chair. the one at the end.  its his.  which also means lots of feathers and dust right at the table where we eat.  awesome.  sanitary.  perfect.

so i made some lemonade the other day----- 1/2 a lemon, GINGER....mint, and honey.  smash it all up, and there! lemonade.  i am normally not into recipes (too many rules!), but this one felt inspiring to me.  it was the most refreshing drink.

I have a wonderful cockatiel named Oiseau, and he always got to hang out on the breakfast table. We always put a pencil on the table for him to play with, and his favorite game was to roll it off the edge, run over to look at it with his head cocked to the side, and then wait for someone to pick it up. He's hanging out with my mom right now, several states away, and I miss him!

i enjoy disorienting myself,
making sure my world has a little shaking up going on. doing things a teensy bit differently. and that's the key: teensy. small changes not gigantic ones.
the first time i layed on the floor and listened to norah jones was monumental for me.
looking at things differently, even though it was simple move: just laying flat on the floor.
it does something in my life though.
refreshes me up and roots me down.
i come back to the norah/floor plan when i feel like the world is going nutty and it makes me feel really good again.

When I was little, I would lie on the floor and imagine roller skating across the ceiling! It always changed my perspective; thank you for reminding me.
