My favorite colors have said a lot about me.
They change often.
I wrote about them in this interview and was inspired to dig deeper.
In high school i adored black, white and red. I had a red room with black & white stars everywhere.  If stars were a color, those would have been my favorite too.
Then in college, my favorite changed to grey.  Very symbolic for me.  Embracing the in-betweens and the processes of life that couldn't be put into one specific box.
Next came orange I think.  I liked the zing.
Next was WHITE.  I'm still in the white phase, for sure, but hot pink has been added in.  Coral.  That peachy bright pink that is essentially neon.  I'm obsessed with it.  I have so many shirts right now that are the exact same color.  I used to have about 20 grey shirts.  I hope to soon have that many coral options.
I am still sitting in the pink theme, wondering what it means.
Words that come to mind: feminine, different, bright.

love the symbolic stages of life

Otheous L'Estrange says:

You know, it was not till the early 20th C that pink became a feminine colour. It was, as late as Edwardian England and mid-war years Germany, a colour for boys -- it was seen as a vibrant, dominating colour too dangerous for young girls to be dressed in. For them, the calm and dulcet tones of blue were preferred, lest they become too masculine.

Two interesting things I see in this:
1) Pink as feminine is a remarkably late-modern interpretation of the colour and the sex;
2) The understanding of personality as product of colour pallet should be taken more seriously than is often the case today.

I love that you said your favorite color changes all the time. I totally relate to this. I went through a very "earth tone" (browns, greens) phase,.. my mom bought me a brown sweater for xmas and said "oh I know how you love brown". I haven't worn it yet. I hate to tell her I never wear brown anymore - and am in a "kelly green and grey" phase now. :)

Twins! I've always (well, since high school) said white is my favorite color, with coral coming in a close second.

I am so with you on this, Shannon! I think that some of us are definitely more affected emotionally and in other ways by color. Lately I cannot get enough of hot pink / pinky corals / muted purply-greiges and especially this bright chartreuse / yellow. LOVE!

Sitting here in one of my 20 grey shirts. They were are in my drawer next to my 20 caramel colored shirts, next to my 20 black shirts. Now I feel pretty boring. I logged onto Pinterest a month or so ago and now I am addicted. It has opened me up to a world of color. If you are not on there, please go join and you will not be disappointed.

what you CAN'T see in these pictures is that its freezing in this house in the mornings.
but i wouldn't have it any other way.
good light is worth the craze of an uninsulated house.

wondering if you are my long lost sister? that is the exact pic of my breakfast some mornings. In fact that egg on toast was my dinner last night! I favor almond butter on toast and i love the Udi's gluten free bread, that is so yummy toasted. My other favorite breakfast is plain yogurt, blueberries, and walnuts. i am wishing i ate that for dinner tonight over the heavy pizza my hubby brought home. :(

lately i've felt like cream.
not quite white,
warmer.
mellow and calm.
goes with a lot of things,
makes things stand out,
simple
and also
bright.

and also...... i have had dentist dilemmas this week. and teeth are cream.  one dentist said i have 9 cavities, another said that i only have 2, but that one needs a root canal.  my first action step was to buy an electric toothbrush.  the second action step is to bring on the nitrous next week when i go in for fillings with dentist #2.  and dont get me started on the "deep cleaning" recommendation and the videos about cavities that the first dentist showed me.  hi! no thank you!

if i want to be motivated to clean my room i often bring in cosmo.
but then i get distracted by him,
and the light,
etc.

so then i get my camera,
and neglect my room to pay attention to my bird.
totally good trade-off, especially since this time we learned a few new tricks: like how to grip one of my fingers with both of his feet.

these are from two days ago.
i made myself pumpkin pancakes for breakfast,
and then perogies for dinner.
perogies are my favorite food.
they're a ukrainian little dumpling with potatoes and cheese inside.
i ate about 12 of them.
ha-- those two meals caused me to use practically every dish that i own.
that's all from me.
eating with, me.

i went into my room to read this morning, and got distracted by the light, the textures, my bed, the colors, the patterns, the wrinkles in the fabric, the shapes, the quietness, the tag that i cut off of my blanket because i hate tags, etc.

sometimes distraction should be welcomed i think.
