angelina and grant.
in it for the love, not for the hoopla of the wedding.
in it for each other because they want to be together.
they need to be together.
a wedding is a means to an end.
what a breath of fresh air.
.........there was a 911 emergency at this wedding.
we took this picture, and then i told them to walk down the path to go to the next spot.
0005_ang.jpg
and then natasha, the third one from the left, fell and split her knee open.  to the bone.  i called 911, she missed the whole wedding, she was the matron of honor, it was crazy, i've never had a bridesmaid be wheeled away on a stretcher.  lots of chaos, but somehow in the midst of it she was chipper as ever and kept telling people 'it was no big deal'. DEEP BREATHS ALL AROUND.....

natasha........ i think that this photo of you on the stretcher, bouquet still in hand, will forever be etched in my brain.  i now have a story for when people ask 'what's the CRAZIEST thing that's ever happened to you at a wedding.  thanks girl. i can't believe how much of a trooper you are. i'm really glad you're okay.

and angelina was calm as ever.
and the wedding day went on.
no, not as if 'nothing had happened....'
but it did go on.
i'm obsessed with these next ones.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm is all i have to say.

first time wearing dress socks,

seeing photographs in print is such a reward.
its rare these days to have tangible items,
things to hold and touch.
i love when an album comes in the mail,
because that means two things:
an album, and mail.
double reward.

the green one is 12x12",
the silk dark purple one is 8x10",
& they are custom designed, by me.
it was hard to part with them.

the mini ones are the cutest things i've ever seen.
they're 5x5".
they have their own blog post right here

the big ones are from renaissance,
the mini's are from finao,
and sometimes i wish i made an album for each month of my life.
could be a little excessive,
could be a little perfect.

i got to be a guest!
i wore a dress, didn't have to bring my rolling suitcase full of gear, didnt' have to arrive 3 hours before the ceremony, no pressure to arrange people and be in charge and stay on the timeline. my only job was to enjoy. WHAT!!! it was kind of shocking.  i normally wouldn't bring my camera, but knowing Danika and her style, i knew that i'd want to document.

it was a camping wedding.
in the hills of santa barbara, danika and adam were married under a tree on a campground.
they both have a heart for africa, so they incorporated a few african traditions into their wedding, including adam killing a lamb the night before for our wedding feast.  yup!

and i didn't intend for this to turn into an inspiration post.... i more wanted to remember my experience as a guest, but! you need to see this. they each had all of their family and close friends walk them down the aisle.  revolutionizing the concept of a bridal party.  in my opinion, its kind of weird to rank your friends in order of most favorite to least favorite and have them stand in a line in matching dresses.  isn't that kind of an odd tradition we've come up with?  this felt so much more real.  so full of meaning.  i liked how they were able to honor and celebrate all of the people who were significant to them.  there was honestly such amazing energy when these groups of about 20 people were walking down the aisle, surrounding the bride and groom.

i really liked snapping a few photos from my seat in the crowd.
michelle mosqueda was the official photographer, and i'm so excited to see the photos she posts on her blog!  check her out!!

enjoy these and be inspired to do what you want to do on your wedding day.

i called danika a forest goddess.
and, she made her dress.
masterpiece,

stunning, yeah?

we did a day-after session at the beach,
despite the frigid water.
it was a full moon that night, which made the air kind of mysterious and beautiful.
i think genny's beach hair is HOT,
it made me want to grow my hair super long,
but............ we decided that i'll rock the short, she'll rock the long.

so genny and tyson had the most lovely wedding.
they like to say i love you a lot.
that was one of the first things she told me when we met.
it's The Sweetest Thing EVER.
their relationship is so up and alive and real.

genny, the best kindergarten teacher.
my strategy for corralling little 5 year olds?
1, 2, 3, SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yo!
this wedding was lovely.
literally...... full of love.
they've been dating for 6 years!
the day finally came!
i was so happy to be there!!!

just realized i rarely post vertical photos.
my world seems to be 90% horizontal.
but hey! look at these four up and downs.

and here's some classic horizontals.
since when do we care if an image is horizontal or vertical?
since today.

and a vertical. love this one.
0009_janee!.jpg
and! the centerpieces that stole my attention for about 20 minutes. almost missed their entrance because i was captivated by these shadows. dont tell. (and good thing i have blythe! who is ON IT FOR EVERYTHING!)

janee. greg. you guys were so natural and so you.
remember the multiple times looking at each other (me included) and saying, is this even real? it feels so NORMAL.
i think it was because you are so comfortable in your relationship, with eachother, with who you are.
so happy for you..

Shan!!! Thank you SO much again and again. I can't even describe what the emotion is I feel every-time I see them, but it's wonderful. Thank you for your kind words also, you make me feel warm and fuzzy inside! Also, it feels ridiculously NORMAL to be married, SO FUN! Also Also, it's funny that your world is 90% horizontal because my world is 90% vertical. I started noticing it when I started posting pictures on Facebook and had to rotate like ALL of them. Love you Shan-D!!!
